The proteomic response of three marine thaumarchaea towards oxidative stress and their metabolic interactions with an alphaproteobacterium


ABSTRACT: Three strains of ammonia-oxidizing archaea, Nitrosopumilus adriaticus NF5, Nitrosopumilus piranensis D3C and Nitrosopumilus maritimus SCM1, were grown under different culture conditions: in the presence of catalase (Catalase), in co-culture with the alphaproteobacterium O. alexandrii (O. alexandrii), without H2O2 scavenger (H2O2 inhibition) and without H2O2 scavenger at high initial cell density (H2O2 stress). Cultures from all treatments were grown in three biological replicates. For proteomic analysis, technical replicates (derived from two separate MS/MS runs) were combined. Results from differential expression analysis (using the DESEQ pipeline) are provided.
