Analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in Streptomyces sp. 30177 treated with cell-free filtrate of Sphingomonas sp. 06703 using Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)

ABSTRACT: This study aimed to analyze the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) produced by Streptomyces sp. 30177 in response to treatment with the cell-free filtrate of Sphingomonas sp. 06703. The cell-free filtrate was prepared by culturing Sphingomonas sp. 06703 in liquid medium, followed by centrifugation and filtration through a 0.22 µm membrane. The filtrate was then added to the culture of Streptomyces sp. 30177. After incubation, the headspace VOCs were extracted using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The raw data were acquired and processed using Agilent MassHunter software. This study aims to reveal the metabolic interaction between these two bacterial species and provide insights into the chemical communication mechanisms in microbial communities.
INSTRUMENT(S): Gas Chromatography MS - positive - capillary-column
