In-depth proteome analysis of FFPE mammary secretory carcinoma specimens

ABSTRACT: Mammary secretory carcinoma (MSC) is one of the rarest types of breast cancer accounting for less than 0.15% of all breast cancers. Traditionally, MSC is considered that it belongs to the phenotypic spectrum of basal-like triple-negative breast carcinoma (BL-TNBC). Here, we present a study of MSC formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens using novel in-depth quantitative proteomic strategy.

Purpose
Secretory carcinoma (SC) of the breast is defined as an indolent tumor but is still categorized into a basal-like triple-negative breast cancer (BL-TNBC) subgroup that generally shows aggressive behavior according to the current classification. Despite the unique clinical behavior of SC, molecular characteristics that reflect biological behaviors of SC remain largely unknown.
Experimental design
A combinatorial approach of whole-exome sequencing and mass spectrometry-based ...[more]
