OBJECTIVE: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) burns fatty acids (FAs) to produce heat, and shows diurnal oscillation in glucose and triglyceride (TG)-derived FA-uptake, peaking around wakening. Here we aimed to gain insight in the diurnal regulation of metabolic BAT activity.

The alternative sigma factor M-OM-^CB of Staphylococcus aureus is involved in the coordination of the general stress response, expression of virulence determinants and modulation of antibiotic resistance levels. It controls a large regulon, either directly by recognizing conserved M-OM-^CB promoter ...

Treatment of rice tissues with purified preparations of a Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) secreted plant cell wall degrading enzyme, Lipase/Esterase (LipA), elicits cell wall damage induced innate immune responses. LipA activity is required for induction of defense responses. In order to charact...

Sel1L is an adaptor protein for the E3 ligase Hrd1 in the endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD), but its physiological role in a cell-type-specific manner remains unclear. Here we show that mice with adipocyte-specific Sel1L deficiency are resistant to diet-induced obesity and exhibit ...

To complement this approach, the second objective of this study is to address the underrepresentation of membrane proteins in plasma proteomics by investigating the use of lipase as a tool to enhance their extraction.

PRDM proteins are tissue specific transcription factors often deregulated in diseases, particularly in cancer where different members have been found to act as oncogenes or tumor suppressors. PRDM5 is a poorly characterized member of the PRDM family for which several studies have reported a high fre...
