High-throughput label-free opioid receptor binding assays using an automated desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry platform.

ABSTRACT: The current opioid epidemic has incentivized the discovery of new non-addictive analgesics, a process that requires the screening of opioid receptor binding, traditionally performed using radiometric assays. Here we describe a label-free alternative based on high-throughput (1 Hz) ambient mass spectrometry for screening the receptor binding of new opioid analogues.
