<i>Enterocytozoon bieneusi</i> is the most prevalent microsporidian species that can cause zoonotic diseases in humans and animals. Despite receiving increasing attention in relation to domestic animals, there has been limited information on the infection burden of <i>E. bieneusi</i> in cervids.
