Treatment of Hand and Foot Syndrome With Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula LC09 in Patients Who Are Receiving Capecitabine for Colorectal and/or Breast Cancer

ABSTRACT: RATIONALE: Hand foot syndrome may be treated or reduced by soaking Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula LC09 in patients receiving capecitabine for colorectal and/or breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying soaking Traditional Chinese Medicine Formula LC09 to see how well they work compared to placebos in preventing hand-foot syndrome in patients who are receiving capecitabine for colorectal or breast cancer.

Project description:RATIONALE: Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) may prevent or lessen hand-foot syndrome caused by chemotherapy. It is not yet known whether pyridoxine is more effective than a placebo in preventing hand-foot syndrome. PURPOSE: This phase III randomized trial is studying pyridoxine to see how well it works compared to a placebo in preventing hand-foot syndrome in patients who are receiving capecitabine for advanced colorectal cancer or breast cancer.

Celecoxib in Preventing Hand/Foot Syndrome Caused By Capecitabine With Metastatic Breast or Colorectal Cancer

Project description:RATIONALE: Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as capecitabine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Giving radiation therapy together with capecitabine may kill more tumor cells. Celecoxib may prevent or lessen hand-foot syndrome caused by capecitabine. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well celecoxib works in preventing hand/foot syndrome caused by capecitabine in patients with metastatic breast or colorectal cancer.

A Study of Prophylactic Treatment for Hand-Foot Syndrome in Patients Treated With Oral Xeloda (Capecitabine).

Project description:This 3 arm study will compare the prophylactic effect of topical corticosteroids, Bepantol or placebo on hand-foot syndrome in patients receiving Xeloda for treatment of metastatic breast cancer, metastatic colorectal cancer or adjuvant treatment of colorectal cancer. Patients who have been receiving oral Xeloda for at least 5 days will be randomized to receive prophylactic treatment with either placebo, topical corticosteroids or Bepantol. The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression or development of hand-foot syndrome, and the target sample size is 500+ individuals.

According to the research of LncRNA microarray, GO analysis, Pathway analysis, we found out the target LncRNAs, as well as their associated mRNAs were contribute to the good outcome of Jiangtang Tiaozhi Formula. Then we expand to 12 cases in each group for qPCR validation.

Xuanfei Formula Attenuates RSV Infection

Project description:RSV, a leading cause of severe respiratory illnesses in vulnerable populations, lacks effective, affordable treatments for pediatric use. The potential of traditional Chinese medicine for relieving viral symptoms prompted this investigation into Xuanfei Formula (XFF) as an anti-RSV agent. This study employed H&E staining, cytokine profiling, and RSV titer quantification in BALB/c mice to evaluate the impact of XFF on RSV infection. Strikingly, immediate post-treatment observation showed a precipitous drop in both serum pro-inflammatory cytokine levels and pulmonary RSV-N gene copies in comparison to infected controls, suggesting XFF’s direct anti-RSV action. Transcriptome analyses were used to pinpointed the underlying mechanism behind formula’s immune-independent anti-RSV, a leading cause of severe respiratory illnesses in vulnerable populations, lacks effective, affordable treatments for pediatric use.
