Investigating the Impact of adriamycin resistance on Gene Expression in MDA-MB-231 Breast Cancer Cells

ABSTRACT: Cellular mechanisms driving aggressive phenotypes in drug-resistant cancer cells remain to be fully elucidated. This study investigated the differences between MDA-MB-231 adriamycin-resistant cells and their parental counterparts, focusing on cell death, motility, proliferation, and key signaling pathways. Compared to parental cells, the resistant cells exhibited significantly increased cell death resistance, enhanced motility and proliferation, and upregulated NF-κB and STAT3 signaling. These findings suggest that heightened survival mechanisms, increased migratory and proliferative capacity, and dysregulated signaling pathways contribute to the aggressive behavior of adriamycin-resistant MDA-MB-231 cells.
