Fast skeletal myosin binding protein-C expression exacerbates dysfunction in heart failure

ABSTRACT: RNA sequencing was performed to investigate the role of fast skeletal myosin binding protein-C (fMyBP-C) in cardiac pathology and heart failure. fMyBP-C, a paralog of cardiac myosin binding protein-C (cMyBP-C), is upregulated in diseased mouse hearts. To determine its functional consequences, we generated a Mybpc3_Exon 33 deletion model, which alters the structure of the C10 domain of cMyBP-C. Transcriptomic profiling was used to characterize gene expression changes including fMyBP-C associated with loss of cMyBP-C, providing insight into the molecular mechanisms by which fMyBP-C contributes to cardiac dysfunction.
