Maternal Exposure to Fructose, Sucrose, and Erythritol Impairs Renal Development and Function in Mouse Offspring
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: Maternal exposure to sweeteners during gestation and lactation may influence renal development and function in offspring. In this study, we investigated transcriptomic alterations in the renal cortex of 3-week-old male mouse offspring following maternal exposure to fructose, sucrose, or erythritol. Pregnant C57BL/6J mice were randomly assigned to four groups receiving drinking water, 20% (w/v) fructose, 20% (w/v) sucrose, or 20% (w/v) erythritol throughout gestation and lactation. Renal cortical tissues from male offspring at 3 weeks of age were collected for RNA sequencing. Differentially expressed genes and enriched biological pathways were analyzed to characterize transcriptomic changes associated with maternal sweetener exposure.
