Low dose radiation effect on brain proteome (pig hippocampus)

ABSTRACT: These data show differences in up- and down-regulation for protein abundances in the hippocampus of radiated vs. sham pigs after total body exposure to low dose radiation (LDR, 1.79 Gy). Tandem mass tags (TMT)-MS results showed 190 up-regulated and 120 down-regulated proteins between the two groups. These TMT-MS findings revealed changes never described before in LDR studies, with several proteins associated with neurodegenerative processes showing altered abundances. These proteomic data may further support the investigation of LDR as a potential beneficial tool to interfere with neurodegeneration and other brain-related disorders.

Blast wave effect on brain proteome (rat hippocampus)

Project description:These data show differences in up- and down-regulation for protein abundances in the hippocampus of double blast vs. sham rats. Tandem mass tags (TMT)-MS results showed 136 up-regulated and 94 down-regulated proteins between the two groups. These TMT-MS findings revealed changes never described before in blast studies. In the absence of behavioral changes, these proteomic data further support the existence of an asymptomatic blast-induced molecular altered status (ABIMAS) associated with specific protein changes in the rat hippocampus.

Expression data from pig mesenteric lymph nodes

Project description:The mesenteric lymph nodes represent the immune response to eggs in schistosome infections,and the analysis of gene expression profiles of the mesenteric lymph nodes from the Vac-Cha (vaccinated with UV attenuated cercariae and challenged with normal cercariae)and Inf-Con (infected with normal cercariae) groups. We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression and identified distinct classes of up-regulated and down-regulated genes. The mesenteric lymph nodes surrounding the cecum from the Vac-Cha and Inf-Con groups were collected at week 8 post challenge and used to analyze the gene profile with Affymetrix microarrays. We sought to obtain the different genes expression profiles between the Vac-Cha group and Inf-Con group.The Vac-Cha group is three pigs vaccinated with UV attenuated Schistosoma japonicum cercariae and challenged with normal Schistosoma japonicum cercariae, and the Inf-Con group is three pigs infected with normal cercariae. Samples pooled per group. A list of differentially-regulated genes can be found in the supplementary file below.

ACTH is a hormone secreted by the pituitary gland and triggering the release of cortisol by the adrenal glands in response to a stress. The objective was to identify genes up- or down-regulated during the stress response triggered by cortisol in the whole blood.

Glomerular Transcriptome from Experimental Nephrotic Syndrome Model and Treatment with PPARgamma Agonists

Project description:Nephropathy was induced with puromycin amino-nucleoside (PAN) in Wistar rats and treated with daily treatments of Pioglitazone (Pio) and GQ-16. Total glomerular RNA was isolated, and mRNA libraries were generated and subjected to sequencing using NovaSeq6000 SP. Injury with PAN resulted in 1089 DEGs compared to controls, and 26 of these DEGs were restored by both Pio and GQ-16 treatments, whereas 106 unique GQ-16 regulated DEGs and 17 unique Pio-regulated DEGs were identified (Fig. 4A). Overall, Pio and GQ-16 treatment resulted in 75 and 173 DEGs compared to PAN injury, which included 29 common and 190 distinct genes (Fig. 4A). Of the 29 common DEGs, 28 DEGs were down-regulated by both Pio and GQ-16 and only 1 DEG upregulated by both treatments, when compared to PAN (Fig. 4B). Of the 190 distinct DEGs identified between Pio and GQ-16 treatments, 41 were down-regulated and 5 up-regulated by Pio and 124 down-regulated and 20 up-regulated by GQ-16 treatment.

Liver miRNA profiles of newborn male Erhualian and Large White piglets using LC Sciences Pig miRNA Array

Project description:Erhualian (EHL) is one of the seven strains included in a Chinese indigenous pig breed called Taihu. EHL is famous for its early sexual maturity, large litter size, high adiposity, mild temper, good maternity and high tolerance to roughage and stress. To further investigate the role of miRNAs in different breed-specific metabolic characters, a comparison of miRNA expression profiles in liver of newborn Erhualian (EHL) and Large White (LW) piglets was carried out. Six LC sciences microarrays containing 236 miRNA procine probes based on miRBase Release 16.0 and 100 custom miRNA probes based on the solex deep sequencing results (li et al.,2010) were used. When compaired with LW piglets, 5 down-regulated and 8 up-regulated miRNAs were detected (fold change >1.2 and p value < 0.1) in the liver of EHL among the 236 miRbase probes. When considering the 100 custom miRNA probes, 2 down-regulated and 5 up-regulated miRNAs were observed. These results were further described in the unpublished paper Coordinated miRNA/mRNA expression profiles for understanding breed-specific metabolic characters of liver between Erhualian and Large White pigs.
