Metabolomic responses of Solanum lycopersicum to Tuta absoluta infestation and TaCRVP effector expression
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: This study presents the metabolomic profiling of Solanum lycopersicum in response to feeding by the herbivorous insect Tuta absoluta and the overexpression of its salivary effector, TaCRVP. To elucidate how this effector manipulates host immunity at the metabolic level, we performed untargeted LC-MS analysis. The study aimed to investigate the metabolic reprogramming induced by the insect salivary effector TaCRVP. The metabolomic results demonstrate a significant downregulation of precursor pathways for jasmonate (JA) synthesis in TaCRVP-OE lines. These metabolic signatures strongly indicate that the TaCRVP effector actively subverts plant oxidative defenses and effectively dismantles the downstream JA-mediated defense network to facilitate insect adaptation.
