ABSTRACT: Obesity has been linked to lower mitochondrial metabolism in skeletal muscle. Weight loss yields many metabolic advantages, yet the effect of bariatric surgery versus caloric restriction on skeletal muscle mitochondrial metabolism and proteome remains to be elucidated.
