Project description:At present, the DNA microarray application to study traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) has received more and more attention. Furthermore, kinds of TCMs were too large, and ingredients in TCMs were also extremely abundant, which afforded an extraordinary source for drug development. To pursue a suitable approach on the research of TCM components, we produced gene expression profiles of 102 TCM ingredients treating MCF7 cells. All selected molecules were main ingredients in Chinese herb and TCM formula. In addition, the gene expression profiles data can be analyzed in combination with public database connectivity map (CMAP) and other bioinformatics methods, which could identify the underlying pharmacological mechanisms and molecular targets/pathway of numerous components. This study indicated that the gene expression profiles data of TCM components was a very convenient and useful approach for researchers engaged in study of TCMs.
Project description:RNA-seq analysis was performed in co-cultured A549 cells with or without feiyanning. A549 cells and macrophages were incubated 48h together in serum-free medium for producing co-cultured A549 cells. Treated groups were supplemented with Chinese traditional medicine Feiyanning.
Project description:To identify biomarkers regulated by traditional Chinese medicine Astragalus membranaceus Fischer Bge. var. mongolicus Bge. Hsiao in colorectal cancer. We have identified several differentially expressed genes including microRNAs using Affymetrix HTA-2.0 array. In this dataset, we include the expression data obtained from colon cancer cell line HCT116 grafted into nude mice. The mice was treated either water or traditional Chinese medicine Astragalus membranaceus for 28 days. These data are used to obtain 1425 genes that are differentially expressed in response to Astragalus membranaceus treatment.

Project description:Based on the theory of constitution of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), healthy individuals can be grouped into distinctive types. the global gene expression signature for distinctive constitutions has not been sufficiently explored. Here we examined gene expression profiles from 32 Chinese Han individuals with Yang/Yin deficiency (n=12 each) and Balanced constitutions (n=8).
Project description:Chinese medicine is a complex system guided by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theories, which has proven to be especially effective in treating chronic and complex diseases. However, the underlying modes of action (MOA) are not always systematically investigated. Herein, a systematic study was designed to elucidate the multi-compound, multi-target and multi-pathway MOA of a Chinese medicine ,QSYQ, on myocardial infarction. Male Sprague Dawley rat model of myocardial infarction were administered QSYQ intragastrically for 7 days while the control group was not treated. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified from myocardial infarction rat model treated with QSYQ, followed by constructing a cardiovascular disease (CVD)-related multilevel compound-target-pathway network connecting main compounds to those DEGs supported by literature evidences and the pathways that are functionally enriched.
Project description:This study, based on RNA-seq technology, systematically compared the transcriptomic differences between the normal control group, LPS model group, and LPS + Traditional Chinese Medicine extract treatment group. The aim was to screen key differential genes (DEGs) and their enriched core pathways under drug intervention. The results showed that the active extract of Traditional Chinese Medicine significantly reshaped the gene expression profile in RAW264.7 cells related to biological processes such as metabolic reprogramming, ferroptosis, inflammation response, and immune regulation, suggesting its potential for multi-target and multi-pathway immune-metabolic regulation.
