Gene-edited dogs are promising models for biomedical research because they have hundreds of genetic diseases that are similar to humans. A common method for producing gene-edited dogs is assisted reproductive technology (ART) using in vivo oocytes or embryos, but it is much more inefficient and has a higher cost.
