Investigation of a new RNA-modification-based mechanism in mammalian spermatogenesis. We created a mice line devoid of testis-specific m5C RNA methyltransferase Nsun7. These mice demonstrated male infertility due to a peculiar defect in sperm tail assembly – mispositioning of the longitudinal column...

RNA modifications are important regulators of transcript activity and an increasingly emerging body of data suggest that the epitranscriptome and its associated enzymes are altered in human tumors. In this study, the initial screening for genetic and epigenetic defects of 5-methylcytosine RNA methyl...

Here we performed target proteomics of NSUN7 on sorted elongated and round spermatids, as well as mature spermatozoa. We showed that NSUN7 is present at all stages of spermiogenesis and is most abundant in round spermatids, which corresponds to the formation of flagellum and fibrous sheath assembly.
