We use a proximity labelling-based proteomics strategy (BioID) to map the interactome of OPTN. OPTN was tagged N and C-terminally with BirA* in RPE1 cells and then, after labelling with biotin, streptavidin pull downs were performed to identify OPTN-proximal proteins.

Retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) are the sole projection neurons that connect the eye with the brain, and the degeneration of these cells in diseases such as glaucoma results in vision loss or blindness. Similar to other neurons throughout the central nervous system, RGCs are postmitotic and therefore ...

OPTN as a therapeutic target for acetaminophen-induced liver injury by activating mitophagy
Peroxisome degradation, known as pexophagy, is essential for eliminating surplus and dysfunctional peroxisomes, with dysregulation linked to various diseases. Previous research revealed that ectopic expression of optineurin (OPTN), a versatile autophagy adaptor involved in multiple autophagic pathwa...

Acetaminophen (APAP) is a leading cause of acute liver failure in Western countries result from the accumulation of damaged mitochondria. However, there is no related clinically useful therapeutic intervention. Optineurin (OPTN) is a multifunctional protein involved in autophagy, oxidative stress, a...
