Hyperpolarised magnetic resonance imaging (HP <sup>13</sup>C-MRI) is an emerging clinical technique to detect [1-<sup>13</sup>C]lactate production in prostate cancer (PCa) following intravenous injection of hyperpolarised [1-<sup>13</sup>C]pyruvate.
